The National Association of Nigerian Students has occupied the Governor’s Office in Ibadan to protest the abduction of the 46 Students and Teachers from Oriire Local government of Oyo State.

The protest which is ongoing simultaneously at the venue with another organised by organised Labour has shut down activities at the complex.

The protesters are demanding the immediate rescue of the abductees and action from government to prevent further recurrence across the country.

They decried a situation where Education has become a dangerous venture for Nigerians.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who is in the eye of the storm has also joined the protesters and is expected to address them on the efforts being made to rescue the abductees.

It will be recalled that gunmen dressed in military camouflage stormed three schools in the Oriire local government of Oyo State in Ogbomosho on the 15th of May during school hours shooting indiscriminately to scare away residents.

They abducted 46 persons including 7 teachers and a 2 year old student.

One of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun, who teaches Mathematics was beheaded in captivity while the headmistress, Mrs Rachael Alamu, has since been seen in videos released by the abductors to pressure for payment of ransom.
