The Federal Government of Nigeria has refuted claims regarding the detention conditions of Binance executive. Tigran Gambaryan.
Reports suggesting that Gambaryan is being held in unsavory prison conditions or that his health is deteriorating have been declared false.
In an official statement, the minister of Information emphasised that Gambaryan is in lawful detention and receives quality medical care whenever necessary. Additionally, he has full access to consular services from his home government, ensuring that his rights are protected.
“The Federal Government will not do anything to jeopardize his fundamental rights to lawful trial and quality care, including healthcare, even as he undergoes trial by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement read.
It was reiterated that Gambaryan’s detention is court-ordered, and any changes to the terms or directives for his release can only be made by the court. The government assured that due process is being followed in the legal proceedings against Binance, aligning with actions being taken by several other countries globally.
The minister says this commitment to legal and diplomatic standards reflects Nigeria’s dedication to justice and the integrity of its judicial processes. The government assured that Gambaryan is being treated fairly and that his legal and human rights are being upheld throughout the judicial proceedings.
