Two of the World’s top Tennis Players have called for one “Super World Cup” tennis event on the eve of the inaugural edition of the ATP Cup in Australia.
World Number One, Rafael Nadal and 15 time grand Slam Winner, Novak Djokovic are of the opinion that a unified World Cup event will be ideal for the sport.
The ATP Cup will see 24 nations contesting in Australia , which will provide the top players a solid platform to prepare for the Australian Open later this month.
The tournament comes six weeks after the inaugural edition of the revamped Davis Cup, which was similar in nature and raises questions about the two event merging into one super tournament in the future.
Meanwhile, Serena Williams has arrived Auckland ahead of the ASB Classic tennis tournament which serves off next Monday.
Williams last competed at the tournament in 2017 when she was eliminated in the second round.
The American who was recently named as the female athlete of the decade, is currently number 10 on the WTA rankings and would be seeking her record equalling 24th Grand slam title at the Australian Open later this month.
