A federal high court, Abuja , has adjourned to April the 12th for the hearing of a suit filed by former first lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, accusing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), of demolishing a property.
The said property which belongs to Ariwabai Aruera Reachout foundation/women for change and Development initiative, a pet project initiated by the former First Lady, is said by the EFFC to be a ” subject matter of investigation, inquiry and examination.
The EFCC had filed an ex parte motion seeking temporary forfeiture of the said properties.
At the last adjourned date on January 22, counsel to Patience Jonathan, informed the court that the buildings, which were the subject matter of the litigation, had been demolished.
The trial Judge, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba stated that he could not make any order that would become academic and cautioned both parties to sheathe their swords until the true position of the properties are ascertained.
