Second Republic Vice-President, Alex Ekwueme has been airlifted abroad for further medical treatment.
The elder statesman departed the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, at about 8:30am in a white air ambulance. with registration number N605AJ.
Some family members accompanied him on the medical trip, while others came to bid him farewell. But they did not disclose the country where the former vice president would be receiving treatment.
Ekwueme was hospitalised at Memfys Hospital of Neurosurgery, Enugu, for chest infection last month and last week, President Muhammadu Buhari approved that he be flown abroad for treatment.
