The faction of the Labour Party led by Barrister Julius Abure on Tuesday said it had recovered the party’s national secretariat in Abuja after what it described as an illegal occupation by officials linked to the Abia State Government and a group aligned with Senator Nenadi Usman.
In a statement, the party alleged that individuals loyal to Senator Usman forced their way into the secretariat around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, pulled down party billboards and removed valuables from the premises.
The group was also accused of breaking security doors and gaining access to the offices of the National Chairman and National Secretary, where sensitive documents were reportedly taken.

The Abure-led leadership further claimed that the operation was carried out with the support of a large deployment of police personnel and described the action as unlawful and unauthorised.
It said the secretariat had since been secured after the alleged illegality of the takeover was established.
According to the statement, the party will conduct an inventory to determine losses and theft resulting from the incident and will subsequently pursue formal legal action.
The leadership assured members and the public that normal party activities would resume on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, at the party’s national headquarters in Utako, Abuja, while expressing regret over the disruption caused to members.
It also warned that it would no longer tolerate attempts by what it described as desperate politicians to interfere with the lawful activities of the party, urging any group claiming leadership to await the final determination of the dispute before appellate courts.
