The adducted Students and Staff of Government Day Secondary school Kaya in Maradun local government area of Zamfara state have been released.

The student regained freedom after two weeks in captivity.

They were received by Governor Bello Matawalle at the Government house Gusau, the state Capital.

The governor expressed joy over the safe return of the kidnap victims.

The students were abducted by heavily armed gunmen on Wednesday 1st of September 2021 while receiving lectures in the school.

Five out of the abducted students returned home twenty four hours after they were kidnaped

It is not clear if the students were released by their captors or rescued by troops as operation is ongoing to rid the state of banditry

Police in Zamfara had earlier confirmed the abduction of seventy three Students and staff of the government day secondary school Kaya, in Maradun local government area.

The release of the students and staff of Government Day Secondary school Kaya in Maradun is coming when communication services in Zamfara were cut off following military operations against bandits and their collaborators.
