Lagos govt commences investigation into disease resurgence in Queens College

Image result for LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT COMMENCES INVESTIGATIONThe federal government has refuted reports of an outbreak  of airborne, flu-like illness, among students of Queens College and other schools in Lagos state.

Minister of state for Education Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, made this known in Abuja o n Wednesday.

He said the team visited Queen’s College and investigations are ongoing, revealing that environmental sanitation and water supply are optimal but could be improved.

Similarly, the Lagos State Government said it has commenced an investigation into the purported outbreak of airborne, flu-like illness, among students of Queens College and other schools in the state.

Image result for LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT COMMENCES INVESTIGATIONThe Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, said in a statement on Tuesday that an investigative team set up by the ministry was dispatched, to unravel the cause of the illnesses.

The team comprised of officials from the State Epidemiology Team, Primary Health Care Services and Environmental Health Department of Lagos Mainland Local Government.

Mr Abayomi emphasised on the need for students to avoid sharing personal items such as spoons, handkerchiefs and toothbrushes.

He also encouraged management of schools to carry out simulations and drills regularly, noting that this will enhance emergency preparedness.
