Image result for Group urges President Buhari to address lopsidedness in NDDC appointmentThe Egbe Omo Ilaje, a group of some oil producing communities in Ondo State, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to address the lopsidedness in the recent appointments into the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

They said the selection was lopsided, as the Law that established the NDDC was not followed.

Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that Ondo State, South-West Nigeria, is the fifth largest producer of crude oil in the Niger Delta region but the state has never produced the Managing Director and Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC since it was created in the year 2000.

The people of the oil producing communities of Ilaje area of the state said this is against the act that established the commission, which stipulates
that the two positions be rotated among member states.

The failure of government to address this issue in the latest appointments into the board of the commission, necessitated this press conference.

Members of the Egbe Omo Ilaje frowned at this lopsidedness and urged President Muhammadu Buhari to address the injustice.

While calling on leadership of the National Assembly to intervene, they said they won’t hesitate to go to court. They stressed that it is the turn of Ondo State to produce the Managing Director of the commission.
