Six members of the People’s Democratic Party from Delta State have defected to the All Progressives Congress, while two Labour Party lawmakers crossed over to the PDP in Enugu State.
The defectors from the PDP to the APC include, Victor Nwokolo, representing Ika Federal Constituency, Julius Pondi,from Burutu Federal Constituency, Thomas Ereyitomi, representing Warri Federal Constituency, Nicholas Mutu, from Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, Ukodhiko Jonathan, representing Isoko North/Isoko South Federal Constituency, and Nnamdi Ezechi, representing Ndokwa East/Ndokwa West/Nkwerre Federal Constituency.
Similarly, Mark Obetta, representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency of Enugu State and Dennis Agbo, from Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency from Labour Party defected to the PDP.
Their defections were announced in letters addressed to the House and read by the Speaker, Abbas Tajudeen, upon resumption of plenary after a five-week long holiday.
The lawmakers cited internal crises within their former parties and a stronger alignment with the political ideologies and direction of their new platforms as reasons for their decisions.
