Ogun Poly -Ipokia-TVCThe National leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics is accusing Governor Ibikunle Amosun of creating problems for more than 700 staff of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic with the idea of the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia.

The lecturers say they are not against upgrading MAPOLY to a university or against the establishment of a polytechnic at Ipokia, but they say the arrangements show a likelihood of problems ahead.

TVC News Ogun State Correspondent, Kazeem Olowe reports that the Union, led by the Vice President of the Academic Staff Union, lecturers of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta expressed their displeasure with the
situation of things since the birth of Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology.

They said the fate of hundreds of staff of Mapoly is hanging and nothing meaningful is happening again in one of the most vibrant institutions in Nigeria.

They noted that salaries of the lecturers have been stopped and that the institution has been mandated not to admit new students.

The ASUP leadership also expressed their worry on why the Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology and Ogun State Polytechnic cannot cohabit on the same campus at Ogere, Abeokuta.

They noted that the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia lacks structure, approval and accreditation. They also challenged the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to speak up on the approval and accreditation status of the new institution.

With the current situation between the lecturers of MAPOLY and the state government, it appears that the present students of the institution will have to stay longer than anticipated to complete their programmes, as the lecturers have refused to conduct the second semester examination for them.

The situation of current development at MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC is unbearable as academic activities has paralyses due to the new idea of transform and upgrading of the institution to MOSHOOD ABIOLA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY by the present administration, the students has complain of non been attended to by the lecturers and as such they just surface and disappear into tin air without been attended to, like-wise the staff members stop issuing any exam pass and paying attention to students, school campus that is usually busy now and then was seen deserted. There is now a question whether the present administration has done something benefit or creating more problems to the Lecturers, staffs and non academic staff.
