S/East, S/South governors reaffirm commitment in supporting families of fallen heroes

Governors of the South East and South South Regions have reaffirmed their commitment in supporting families of fallen Heroes especially in their states.

The Governors spoke at their respective Cenotaph to mark this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The governors say they will not abandon the fallen heroes and their families.

The South East and South south zones of the country are not left out in the annual Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day exercise.

The event is usually kicked-off with Military march pass, followed by inspection of guards by the Governors.

.Prayers were said by representative of Christian and Muslim clergies and guns were shot in their Honour of the fallen heroes

In Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodinma says his Government will not abandon fallen heroes who lost their lives in the cause of trying to protect the State.

Governor Uzodinma proposed that the National Assembly should establish a special fund for the armed forces just like the Tertiary Education Trust Fund

His Anambra state counterpart, Chukwuma Soludo calls for sober reflection as the Nation commemorates the Armed Forces Day.

He commends the gallantry, professionalism and sends strong message to miscreants terrorising Ihiala axis of the state to desist.

The Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi led wreath laying for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day,

The annual event held at the Unity Square Abakaliki.

Delta state government commended the Military for keeping the country, despite mounting insecurity confronting the nation.

Secretary to the state government led the state wreath laying ceremony in honour of the departed soldiers

In Enugu, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi assures families of the fallen heroes of continued support of the state government towards the wellbeing of their families.

Speaking, the chairman of the Nigerian Legion and widows want government to empower the widows and extend their stay in the barracks.

January 15 is a date set aside to remember fallen heroes who participated in the civil war, peace keeping and ongoing military Operations to keep the country united.
