Nigeria needs a national language-Wammako

Former governor of Sokoto state and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako, has encouraged Nigerian authorities to make greater efforts to promote national integration through education.

Senator Wamakko believes that a concerted effort should be made to attain this goal by creating a national language that will unite Nigeria as a single entity.

The former governor made the call in Sokoto during a reception for over one hundred University graduates from different of the world he facilitated and sponsored their education.

He stated that education is a powerful tool for achieving national development, and that the process could facilitate national integration if deliberate efforts were made to achieve the goal through the development of a national language.

According to the former governor and Senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial Districts, Nigeria can only progress and develop when there is national cohesion, unity, and deliberate effort to promote peace.

He also believes that efforts should be made to invest in human capital in order to cultivate individuals who will contribute to national progress and development through their expertise.

Keynote speaker at the event Professor Mukhtar Bunza called the authority to prioritise the provision of quality education to the teeming youth populace in the country.

He said the value of education cannot be quantified in naira and Kobo, but in the impact it makes in changing the status of individuals states, and nations.

He said the right thing for government at all levels is to invest massively on education of it’s population of the goal of national development will be achieved.

Over one hundred graduates from Sokoto state were sponsored to various universities across the globe to study professional courses mostly in health and medicine.

Other students were trained in the area of information and communication technology, engineering, radiologist all aimed to meet the manpower shortage in these key areas in the state as well as the north West geopolitical region and the nation at large.
