The Delta state police command says it has uncovered six pump action assault rifles hidden in a church in Asaba.
But the pastor and a local vigilance group leader insist the rifles were meant to provide protection for the church.
The commissioner of police, Hafiz Inuwa, says investigations are underway to ascertain the real motive behind the possession of the prohibited firearms found inside the church.
