Catholic University, Threatens Mass Burial For Unclaimed Corpses

Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI), Enugu has issued Stern warning to families of 33 abandoned corpses in its mortuary a 21-day ultimatum to evacuate them.

The university threatened to give a mass burial to the deceased.

The university’s vice-chancellor, Christian Anieke, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu, disclosed that the ultimatum become necessary to enable the university to renovate the mortuary.

According to Reverend Father Professor Anieke, the families of the 33 corpses in the teaching hospital’s mortuary should take them away and give them befitting burials.

Reverend Father Professor Anieke explained that an Enugu High court has granted the institution to carry out a mass burial of the corpses if they were not removed from the mortuary within the 21 days allowed.

Geoffrey Okoye University is the former Ntasi Obi Ndi Nona Afufu where he advised people to check if any of the abandoned corpses there is that of their relations or people they know.
