The Kwara state police command says no policeman or officer will be allowed to go for any form of leave during the yuletide season.
It also assured residents of the state of adequate security during the period.
Christmas is an annual festivity celebrated towards the end of the year by Christians the world over to mark the birth of Jesus.
The period is normally a time if praise worship and merry making for Christians, and a time to upscale security to prevent criminal elements taking advantage of citizens
Kwara state has been relatively peaceful, save for pockets of cult clashes and kidnapping.
Just a few days ago, the police arrested some suspected kidnappers terrorising some parts of Kwara South.
Commissioner of Police in Kwara state, Paul Odama said, since the arrests were made, different people have been coming from other states to identify them.
According to him, the suspects have partaken in so many kidnapping operations, of which a civil defense personnel was killed.
Christians in the state want security operatives to further tighten the state security ahead of the Christmas and new year celebrations.
The police command says it is not leaving any stone unturned to guarantee peace in the state during this period while it has also mapped out certain strategies to ensure adequate security of lives and property.
Police Public Relations Officer in Kwara, Ajayi Okasanmi said “The Commissioner of Police has directed that there should be no leave, either casual or annual at this moment so every policeman is on duty.
Mr Okasanmi noted that personnel are also on ground to control traffic as campaigns are ongoing and there are people travelling to various places.
The PPRO added that some policemen will be deployed to some strategic locations and worship centres to ensure an itch-free Christmas celebration.
Christmas is some hours away and many Christian residents of Kwara state are already in high spirits to celebrate the season.
