The immediate past governor of Bauchi state, Mohammed Abubakar has been indicted for mismanagement of funds while in office.
This follows a three month investigation by the state’s asset and recovery committee.
The Bauchi state government, inaugurated a twenty one member committee in July this year to investigate the state’s finances from May 2007 to 2019.
The committee’s findings show two trillion naira allocation was received by the state during that period with no proof of expenditure.
A breakdown of the investigation’s outcome reveal the former governor violated provisions of the state’s budget monitoring, price intelligence and public procurement law.
The committee considers the former governor’s action in the purchase of pubic assets morally condemnable.Efforts are ongoing by the state government to recover the assests.
