The Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, has warned police officers against abuse of rights of citizens. He stated this in Ila-Orangun, Osun state, during a five-day human rights training programme for selected police officers.
Rafiu Hammed reports that Section 4 of the police Act stipulates protection of Rights of citizens by the Police. However, a lot of cases of human rights abuse had been reported against some officers of the Nigeria police.
At the police Mobile Force Training College, Ila-Orangun, the Inspector General of Police organised the training for officers of the Force on how to ensure protection of Rights of the citizens. 70 of them took part in the training.
IGP Muhammad Adamu who was represented by the Commissioner of Police in charge of Federal SARS, Olafimihan Adeoye believes the training will
enhance the capacity of the Officers.
A lot of police officers had undergone the training since 2015.
The trainees who were drawn from each state of the federation are expected to go back to their bases and train their colleagues.
