With the release of the new guidelines by the national assembly that will make it difficult for reporters to cover plenary and other parliamentary activities, Parliamentary reporters are already challenging this attempt at stifling press freedom.

The senate press corps has written a letter to the national assembly leadership, and all security agencies working within the parliament, calling for an outright dismissal of the guidelines.

It is contrary to section 22 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended
We join the journalists in arguing that the constitution empowers the media to hold government and institutions accountable to the people.
