In the wake of the devastating blaze that engulfed France’s 850-year-old Notre Dame Cathedral, concerns have been raised about the preservation and safety of several cultural heritage sites in the city of London.
Images of the horrifying blaze which broke out on Monday afternoon at the Notre Dame Cathedral in the French capital have reverberated around the world. Stunned onlookers in Paris witnessed the collapse of the cathedral’s spire, while the flames raged for some 15 hours.
Like Paris, London also boasts many old and treasured buildings, including the historic Houses of Parliament in Westminster which date back to 1099.
As a major renovation project is currently taking place at Westminster Abbey, with the famous clock tower of Big Ben currently silent as it undergoes extensive repairs.
