The senate has filed a suit at the Supreme Court, seeking to know whether President Muhammadu Buhari is constitutionally empowered to suspend Justice Walter Onnoghen.

The lawmakers also want the apex court to decide whether the action of the president amounts to usurpation of their powers, as provided for in section 292 of the constitution.
