Regina Askia urges Nigerian nurses to partner with counterparts in diaspora


Image result for Regina Askia nurseA team of professional nurses from different parts of Nigeria, led by America-trained family nurse practitioner, Regina Askia-Williams is seeking ways of engaging with medical personnel in the diaspora in order to reduce medical tourism.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to Presidential Adviser on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri in Abuja, Regina Askia-Williams, noted that skilled Nigerian nurses practicing abroad can partner with nurses locally to boost clinical health care delivery through the introduction of a nurses development programme.

Askia-Williams, a former Miss Nigeria and Nollywood actress, stressed the need for an adequate culturally sensitive campaign that would enlighten the Nigerian populace and enable them make intelligent choices in winning the HIV/Aids battle.

Responding , the Presidential Adviser on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri expressed her support for the notion of a nurses development programme that would enable Nigerians in diaspora contribute to the development of the country.
