A popular Kenyan actress, Maureen Wanza has died while giving birth in Kilifi County, Kenya on Tuesday as health services in public hospitals around the country remained grounded due to the clinical officers and nurses that went on strike.
According to reports, Maureen had been rushed to a private clinic after developing complications. Her death comes at a time when hundreds of patients in the county are seeking treatment in private hospitals due to the industrial action that has paralyzed services in all public hospitals. The nurses’ strike has lasted for 106 days. The situation in Kisii was worsened by the decision by clinical officers to join nurses in the strike.
It was an emergency. While at the facility, her situation worsened as she gave birth. She bled to death. Unfortunately, her baby also died minutes later,” Ashiners Films CEO Ann Hamburg said.
Nurses in Kenya on Tuesday threatened to take legal action against governors who will replace any of them on strike.
May her soul respect in perfect peace.
