An outbreak of Avian Influenza, known as Bird flu has been reported in the Federal Capital Territory and six states in Nigeria.
This information is coming from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development whose officials met with state commissioners of agriculture in Abuja.
The states affected by the disease are Bauchi, Kano, Katsina, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Kaduna.
Avian Influenza is a deadly disease caused by a virus that occurs naturally in wild acquatic birds, but can also infect domestic birds.
And since there is no scientifically proven vaccine for the disease, government is adopting quarantine, movement control, and decontamination to stop its spread.
