Edo Sate government has disengaged private tax collectors receiving revenues for the government. Governor Godwin Obaseki announced the ban in Benin City.
According to the governor, some tax collectors had used the opportunity to harass innocent citizens while extorting money from them.
Obaseki said that only government workers will be allowed to collect taxes for the government, stressing that previous agreements on tax collection had been cancelled.
