Tincan Customs command intercept illegal arms and ammunition

The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has uncovered arms and ammunition that came as personal effects packed inside two vehicles from the United States of America.

The items which are absolute prohibitions include two pump action riffles and 7,500 air gun pellets, nine pieces of bullet proof vests, one military helmet and a set of military gas mask with among others.

The area comptroller of the command, Yusuf Bashar condemned the action as unpatriotic and dangerous to the populace, revealed that the consignment was uncovered during the course of container examination.

He disclosed that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the importation.
