Nigeria’s ex-international John Utaka is set to finalise a move to an Egyptian second division club after a celebrated return to former club Ismaily failed.
The 34-year-old striker had hoped to make a sensational return to Ismaily, who he had first played for between 2000 and 2001, but in the end the move collapsed.
Free agent Utaka claimed Ismaily severally breached an agreement they entered, while the top Egyptian club alleged the former Montpellier star was not fit.
Utaka has since reported the matter to world football governing body FIFA.
The striker’s last club was Sivasspor in Turkey, who did not extend his contract when it ran out last year.
