South African President, Cyril Rhamaphosa, has officially apologized to Nigeria on behalf of his country over what has been described as the senseless attacks on Nigerians and other foreigners of African descent in South Africa.
A special envoy from South Africa tendered an apology to President Muhammadu Buhari at the state house in Abuja and advocated for stronger bi-lateral relationship between the two strong African economies.
The envoy also conveyed the Government of South Africa’s determination to protect the lives and property of foreign nationals legitimately working and doing business in South Africa.
This apology is coming after series of backlash and condemnation that followed the xenophobic attacks in the rainbow country.
The south African president also apologised to Zimbabwe when he attended the funeral of Robert Mugabe over the weekend.
