University Don Urges Leaders To Build Collective Vision

A  former President of the West African College of Physicians, Professor Akinyinka Omigbodun has urged leaders at all levels to pave the way in building a shared vision, encouraging mentorship and empowering new leaders in preparation for leadership transition.

Professor Omigbodun stated this at the 4th Emeritus Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe Distinguished Lecture at the University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo, in Ondo State.

The  Lecture at the University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo, in Ondo State, has in attendance, members of the academic community, traditional rulers, opinion leaders and professionals in different fields.

The lecture, titled, “Leadership, Mentorship, and Academic Development in Nigeria”, was delivered by a former President of the West African College of Physicians, Professor Akinyinka Omigbodun.

He noted that every nation has challenges when it comes to leadership, and Nigeria is not different.

Prof. Omigbodun said leaders must ensure continuity in the system and leave a worthwhile legacy.

He called on Nigerians to ensure that leaders are accountable and fulfil their electoral promises to citizens.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Adesegun Fatusi described leadership as key to the development of any country.

Speakers here agreed that Nigeria must cultivate a good leadership culture to ensure all round development of the country.
