Troops have repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State following an intense overnight battle between February 20 and 21.

The attack, which involved gun trucks and several motorcycles, was successfully thwarted by ground forces with support from air components.

Air strikes destroyed one gun truck and five motorcycles, neutralising several fighters in the process.

Troops also recovered 13 AK-47 rifles, 16 magazines and three communication radios from the scene.

However, one soldier was killed in action, while some military equipment was damaged during the engagement.

The wounded have since been evacuated for medical treatment.

Security sources said troops remain on high alert in the area to prevent further incursions and sustain ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
