Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have intensified their offensive against insurgents in the North-East, disrupting supply networks and arresting key suspects during Operation Desert Sanity IV, conducted between 19 and 24 September across Borno and Adamawa States.

Military authorities said the week-long operations led to the seizure of 21 jerricans of smuggled fuel, the recovery of large quantities of urea fertiliser, the neutralisation of a Boko Haram fighter and the arrest of two major suspects linked to terrorist activities.

In Adamawa State, troops of 232 Battalion (Tactical) and Sector 4 Special Forces confiscated seven jerricans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) on 19 September at Vintim, Mubi South Local Government Area.

Further seizures included nine jerricans along the Fillin Ball–Gella Road in Mubi South on 21 September and five more at Tsamiya, Mubi North, on 24 September.

Troops also discovered stocks of urea fertiliser at Mubi Central Market on 21 and 24 September.

The fertiliser, believed to be used in the production of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), was abandoned by suspected suppliers who fled the scene.

In Borno State, troops of 73 Battalion (Motorised), working with the Civilian Joint Task Force and hybrid forces, ambushed suspected Boko Haram fighters on 22 September at Kolori Karumi, west of Alau Dam, killing a suspected scout during a night operation.

Further breakthroughs included the arrest of Thomas James, 54, at the 112 Task Force Battalion Forward Operating Base in Ngwom on 23 September.

He was caught with 23 bottles of PMS concealed in a bag while travelling from Maiduguri to Gamboru Ngala. Preliminary investigations linked him to terrorist fuel-supply operations.

On 24 September, troops acting on intelligence arrested Ahmadu Buba, 31, in Garkida, Gombi Local Government Area, Adamawa State.

Buba, from Sabon Gari Kimba in Damboa, reportedly confessed to joining Boko Haram in April 2025 and to participating in attacks on Mandaragirau Sabon Gari Kimba in August as well as the destruction of Mandahuma Bridge in June.

The Military High Command praised the troops for their resilience and aggressive operational tempo, urging them to maintain the pressure to weaken insurgent networks and sever their supply lines.
