Town planners have called on Nigerians to adhere to planning and urban development rules and engage professionals in order to prevent disaster.
They made this known while discussing livable environment through collaboration and community participation.
For any society to have a sustainable development, the leaders and the people must have strategic plan they are working with and they must adhere strictly to it, in order to avoid problems.
This was part of the opinions of the speakers during a town hall meeting organised by the Nigerian Institute of town planners about live able environment and the strategic roles of town planners in achieving a sustainable development.

The National President of the body wants Nigerians to plan before investing, claiming that investing without planning would lead to disaster.
Another speaker wants the people to embrace planning and work with established professionals through collaboration to build a well structured society.
He added that deviation from proper planning leads to problems such as flooding and other challenges relating to the environment.
Other issues raised during the programme include proper engagement of professionals, limited hands working on projects, understanding of the need for community collaboration and participation.
