Thousands of women and men marched through Warsaw and other Polish cities on Sunday to oppose plans by the conservative Law and Justice party government to tighten already strict limits on abortion.
Many of the protesters demanded not only greater reproductive rights but also a reduction in the Church’s influence over their lives.
Some of the placards held by the protesters in Warsaw read: “Abortion in defence of life”, “Are you against abortion? Then don’t do it!”, and so on.
Sunday’s marches were organised to mark International Women’s Day.
