President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged Nigerians to actively pursue knowledge that will allow peaceful coexistence amongst all religious groups.
The Muslim leader gave the charge at the inauguration of the newly remodeled Adogba Mosque in Ibadan.
The new Adogba Central Mosque was demolished in 2020 as the former structure had to give way to the development of Iwo Road Bus Terminal planned by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Now, eminent religious leaders like the Sultan of Sokoto, the Emir of Kano Ado Bayero amongst other religious figures are here to inaugurate a new mosque built by the governor following his promise to construct another worship center.
In his remarks, the Sultan noted that leaders and followers alike had a duty to be their brother’s keeper and advocate for peace and stability in society.
Governor Seyi Makinde assured residents of the state that all religions in the state will continue to receive their due recognition and support for peace to prevail in the state.
Facilities present in the state of the art mosque include a prayer hub, ablution hub, and a library/research centre.
