Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has openly confirmed that there were indeed discussions and attempts to impeach the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

Speaking with journalists at the National Assembly, the former Abia governor says the plot was not mere speculation, noting that certain forces within the Senate explored the option, although it ultimately failed to materialise.

Senator Kalu stressed that lawmakers like himself will continue to resist such moves, urging his colleagues to prioritise stability, legislative cooperation, and national interest.

The lawmaker also weighed in on Nigeria’s security challenges, backing recent comments by former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Kalu insists that Washington’s intelligence and diplomatic support are quietly strengthening Nigeria’s counter-terrorism operations, adding that he supports foreign intervention if it will help end the killings of innocent citizens and the destruction of property.

His revelations are expected to reignite questions about internal power blocs, loyalty lines, and the deeper political undercurrents shaping the 10th Senate.
