Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday paid an unscheduled visit to Maiduguri, Borno State, to commiserate with the Nigerian Army and the state government following a fresh terrorist attack that left Brigadier General Oseni Braimah and several other officers and soldiers dead.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima visited on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a painful reminder of the sacrifices made in the fight against insecurity.
During his engagement with military personnel and government officials, the Vice President paid tribute to the slain troops and commended their service to the nation.
“These men wore the uniform for all of us. They stood to protect our communities, our families, and the future of our children. Their courage reminds us that peace and security often come at a very high cost,” the Vice President said.

Shettima reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the armed forces in ongoing counterinsurgency operations, stressing that efforts to restore lasting peace across the country remain a top priority of the administration
He also conveyed President Tinubu’s directive to security agencies to intensify operations aimed at tracking down those behind the attack, insisting that accountability would be enforced.
“Criminals will have no hiding place under this administration,” he declared.
