Senate adjourns plenary until July 2

Image result for Senate adjourns plenary until July 2The newly constituted ninth senate has adjourned legislative activities till the second of July, but that was after the setting up of an adhoc committee to facilitate the allocation of seats to lawmakers and offices in the senate.

President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan said the adjournment is to give the committee enough time to do its work.

The adjournment was also after the Senator representing Imo West, Rochas Okorocha was sworn in. He was issued his certificate of return on Tuesday, after more than two months of of a legal battle.

And just like the upper chamber, the House of Representatives also adjourned until July 2.

At plenary today, the speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila announced the creation of three ad hoc committees to run the affairs of the House in the meantime.

Chairman of the Ad hoc committee on Media, Khadija Naija Abba Ibrahim, disclosed this while addressing National Assembly Correspondents.

The announcement came after about four hours of a closed door meeting. The committee also announced that the Speaker had cancelled the traditional victory party after election
