Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has named a seven- member committee to probe alleged economic sabotage in the oil and gas sector.
The panel headed by House Leader, Julius Ihonvbere, is to join the Senate in executing its task.
Other members of the committee are Iduma Igariwey, Gboyega Isiaka, Sada Soli, Fatimah Talba, Tunji Raheem, and Patrick Umoh
The House said the new structure aims to ensure synergy between the two chambers of the National Assembly.
It is also a holistic approach to addressing the issues and ease of administrative coordination, resulting in a harmonized and efficient investigation.
The Committee is expected to kickstart its duties without delay.
Its mandate included ensuring ensure accountability and transparency in the sector.
It would be recalled that the Speaker recently relieved the joint committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream and midstream of the responsibility of a forensic probe into the sector.
