The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) is concerned that the gridlock being experienced by petroleum tankers may get worse with the reconstruction on Apapa-Wharf road, Lagos.
Chairman of the union, south-west Tokunbo Korodo,says the gridlock may result in fuel scarcity.
According to Korodo, since the inauguration of reconstruction of the road, petroleum tanker drivers have been finding it difficult to gain access to tank farms in the area to load petrol.
He warns that rehabilitation would affect movement of articulated vehicles to the port.
Korodo called on the NNPC to address the lingering issues before it degenerates into fuel scarcity.
The federal government had handed over the road to Dangote Industries Limited and Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc for immediate reconstruction.
