Pilgrims from Ogun State to Saudi Arabia have been urged to use their time at the holy land of Mecca to pray for themselves, their leaders in the state, the country and Nigeria as a whole.
The Amir Hajj and the leader of the Ogun State contingent to Saudi Arabia, Samsudeen Apelogun made this known on Saturday 24th May, 2025 during the visit of the second batch pilgrims from the State to historical sites in Mecca.
He said the leaders need their prayers to be able to lead well and be successful in the discharge of their duties to the state and the country in general.
Apelogun said “as pilgrims pray for themselves here, we advise them to pray for all our leaders in Nigeria, particularly the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, may Almighty Allah continue to guide him to fulfill all his electoral promises and strengthen him to do more for the people of Ogun State”
The Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Ajibola Taiwo, while addressing the pilgrims at Mount Arafat emphasized the significance of the visit to the place ahead of the day of Arafat.
He said the place maybe too congested and the mountain may be difficult to climb on that day due to the numbers of pilgrims that will visit the place across the world.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ogun State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare board ad-hoc committee for the hajj, Iziaq Oloungbebe and the Consultant to the Ogun State Governor on Islamic Affairs, Sheik Iskeel Lawal (Sugar) have warned pilgrims not to leave their tents except for major spiritual exercise and that must be done with the guidance of those coordinating the exercise from Ogun State.
They highlighted the dangers associated with unauthorized movement during the busy period of the Hajj exercise and want pilgrims from Ogun State to be safety conscious at all times.
