Men of the Nigerian police have rescued a five year old schoolgirl, Aishatu Modibo from kidnappers in Gombe. Aishatu Modibo was abducted from school by a relative who later handed her over to the criminals.
The police also paraded other suspects accused of raping underage girls.
Correspondents Lanre Adeyemi reports that Monday 16th of September is a day the Modibo’s of Pantami area of Gombe would not forget in a hurry.
Just like any other day, their five year old daughter went to school but she did not return. Her brother who attends the same school said he saw someone taking her into a tricycle.
The initial disbelief and fear was soon replaced by despair when the kidnappers called demanding a six million Naira ransom.
The shocker was the discovery that a relative was involved in the kidnapping. The family is just glad that their little girl is home and safe.
The police also paraded other suspects accused of raping underage girls.
As the crime rate increases, the types of crime are also evolving. But the police give reassurances of their commitment to fighting crime and
urging Nigerians to be more security conscious.
