POLICE PRO'S MEET TO ENHANCE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

As Nigeria prepares for the forthcoming election, officers of the Nigeria police have been advised to desist from abuses, and all forms of statements capable of instigating violence on the public.

These were the words of the Minister of information Lai Mohammed and the Inspector General of police Alkali Baba at the opening ceremony of the PPROs conference in Ibadan.

Gathered here are Police public relations officers across all commands of the 36 states including the federal capital territory and the 17 zones in the country.

The conference is aimed at strengthening strategic communications towards police reforms, security and integrity of 2023 election

In his words, the Inspector General of Police promised to bequeath Nigerians with a free and fair election.
For the minister, to achieve this, officers of the Nigeria police must remain strategic in the way they relate with the public.

Other key players want all hands to be on deck to help reform the Nigeria police force and prevent violence before during and after the polls.

The conference is expected to equip the police image makers with adequate knowledge that will allow them communicate strategically to achieve peaceful coexistence before, during and after the 2023 election.

The meeting is also a platform for the Information managers within the Police to brainstorm with Others within the Civil Service and the Executive arm of Government towards a peaceful atmosphere before during and after the 2023 General Elections.

It is also a good point for the Police to ensure their is uniformity in the way Information is disseminated by operatives of the force as against what currently obtains across the Thirty Six States and the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.

This also a strategic meeting for the force especially considering the effect that the phenomenon of fake news has been having on the general psyche and atmosphere in the Country and also the impact of attacks by unknown persons on the facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
