The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (RTD) has declared that promotion in the Police Force is not just a recognition of past service, “but also a call to greater responsibility, discipline and sacrifice “.
He urged the beneficiaries not to see the promotion as an end, but rather as a new beginning reminding them that the challenges before the Nigeria Police today ” are enormous – from combating violent crimes, insurgency, Cybercrime to managing the complex demands of democratic policing”.
The PSC Chairman said the nation will continue to look up to them to demonstrate leadership, integrity, and professionalism at all times.
DIG Argungu spoke today at the Special commendation session/grand reception organised by the Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC) in honour of newly promoted Senior Police Officers.
He was represented by Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations of the Commission.
DIG Argungu noted that at the Police Service Commission, “we remain committed to ensuring that promotions are merit-driven, transparent and anchored on due process” adding ” this we believe , is the surest way to inspire confidence, boost morale and reposition the Nigeria Police for optimum performance “.
To the Police Community Relations Committee, (PCRC), the PSC Chairman expressed his sincere thanks for their unrelenting support to the Police Force and the Commission, stressing that their partnership “is a testimony to the fact that security is a shared responsibility.
He observed that “we must continue to build bridges of trust and collaboration between the Police and the Communities they serve”.
The PSC Chairman reminded the promotees that to whom much is given, much is expected, “Wear your new ranks with humility, carry out your duties with renewed vigor, and remain worthy Ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force.
