A police operative has been injured and government properties burnt as protests in Kaduna turned violent.
The demonstration escalated when tensions flared between protesters and security forces as the protesters attempted to block the road leading to the Government House.
Police authorities have alleged that the protest has been hijacked by proscribed members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), known as Shiites, and criminals who infiltrated the peaceful assembly.
