The Enugu State Police Command has recorded fresh successes in its ongoing crime-fighting operations, leading to the arrest of three male suspects and the recovery of firearms, ammunition and suspected hard drugs in separate raids.

On 19 January 2026, operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Mba Emmanuel, also known as “Indomie”, aged 31, and Onukwube Nnam, alias “Nwa Amodu”, aged 35, in Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The suspects reportedly confessed to membership of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, with Mba identified as the head and executioner of the group in Enugu South LGA as of December 2025.

Recovered items included a pump-action gun, a locally fabricated Beretta-type pistol, 31 live cartridges, a large wrap of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, one HP laptop and a motorcycle.

In a related operation on 31 January 2026, operatives raided criminal hideouts in the Agbani axis, arresting eight suspects. After screening, one suspect, Ezeani Monday, aged 32, was found in possession of dried substance suspected to be cannabis sativa and 39 pellets of suspected crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “Mkpuru-mmiri”. The remaining suspects were released following preliminary investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to protect lives and property, warning individuals involved in armed robbery, cultism and illicit drug activities to desist or face the full weight of the law.
