It is exactly one year after a deadly clash that almost turned into a religious war broke out in Mangu local Government area of Plateau State.
12 months down the line, Residents and victims of the clash are still struggling to recover from the impact of that attack that negatively changed the livelihood of the people.
Tvc News senior reporter Funom Joshua, who covered the attack last July visited Mangu Council area today to feel the pulse of the people.
The memories of the attack that happened on the 9th of July 2023 will remain fresh in the minds of the people of Mangu for a very long time.
On that fateful day, About 100 persons including women and children, were sent to their early graves by armed bandits.
According to residents, the clash was as a result of disagreements between some cattle rearers and a native member of the community.
The intensity of the clash forced the state government to impose a 24-hour curfew that lasted for 5 deays before the situation was put under control.
And since then, Life has not been the same or easy for most residents here in Mangu town.
Surprisingly, Some of the victims are still seeking refuge one year after at this temporary Internally displaced persons camps in the area.
Their well being and living conditions need more to be desired as they struggle to survive each day.
The response of the state government and relevant authorities in reconciling the warring communities was said to have helped sustain the relative peace experienced in the area.
The state government says Achieving a peaceful and prosperous Mangu community is a collective task that all residents most prioritize for the good of all.
