The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Argungu Local Government, Bello Layya, along with 1,500 party supporters, formally decamped to the All Progressives Congress on Monday.

Among those who joined him in this move, were Ward Chairmen, Youth Leader, Women Leader, and a former member of the House of Representatives, Garba Musa Gulma.

The decampee were welcomed by the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris who was represented by his Deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, at the flag-off of the APC Zonal Campaign Rally in Argungu comprising Arewa, Dandi, Argungu and Augie Local Government Areas.

The Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida highlighted that the large number of decampees was a reflection of the trust the people have in the APC-led administration under Governor Nasir Idris’ administration.

He pointed out the significant progress made within one year of Kauran Gwandu’s leadership, especially in the areas of education, healthcare delivery, and infrastructure development.

Tafida expressed his gratitude to the people of Argungu Emirate for their unwavering support for the current administration and assured them that APC candidates would not disappoint them.

He urged the electorate to turn out in large numbers to vote for the APC in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for August 31, 2024.

The State Party Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, assured the decampees of fair treatment within the APC.

Kana emphasised the achievements of Governor Nasir’s Administration particularly the appointment of over 6,000 advisers to empower the people and broaden the scope of governance.

Before the rally started, the APC campaign team paid homage to the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera in his Palace to seek royal blessings.

The Emir commended Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for his developmental projects across the state.

The Emir called for sustained prayers for the nation’s leaders and expressed optimism that Nigeria’s economic and social challenges would gradually come to an end by God’s grace.
