The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Edward Ogundoyin, has marked his 39th birthday by inaugurating a newly constructed secondary school in Temidire Community, Ibarapa East Local Government Area.
The project was commissioned on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde by the Commissioner for Education, Olusegun Olayiwola, at a ceremony attended by government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders and residents.
Ogundoyin described the project as a historic milestone for Temidire and neighbouring villages, noting that more than a dozen communities previously had no access to a secondary school.
He said pupils were forced to travel long distances to continue their education in nearby towns, a situation that imposed financial strain, safety risks and contributed to school dropouts.
“Today’s event is not just about commissioning structures; it is about fulfilling a promise, restoring hope and securing the future of our children. Promise made, promise kept,” he said.
The new school comprises two blocks containing three classrooms each, staff offices and a principal’s office, alongside a separate facility with modern sanitation amenities.
The buildings have been fully furnished to provide a conducive learning environment.

Following its handover to the Oyo State Government, the school is expected to commence academic activities in September with its first intake of students for the new session.
Describing the inauguration as a double celebration coinciding with his birthday, Ogundoyin said investing in education remained the most meaningful way to give back to the community.
He reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development, revealing that another secondary school project in Ojonamo, Lanlate, is nearing completion, while the Maya Town Hall project is at an advanced stage.
He also highlighted other constituency interventions, including a primary health centre at Lagaye, a mosque at Oloro, completion of the Eruwa Youth Movement Secretariat, a cold room for butchers, the drilling of about 40 boreholes, employment facilitation, bursary awards and empowerment programmes.
The Speaker thanked the Temidire community for its support during the project and urged residents, parents, teachers and students to safeguard the facility, stressing that education remains a vital tool for social transformation and sustainable development.
