The Oyo State Police Command has intensified security operations across the state ahead of the Easter celebrations, with authorities assuring residents of robust measures to safeguard lives and property throughout the festive period.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the command said the deployment aligns with the policing directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at reinforcing public safety and boosting citizens’ confidence.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, has ordered strategic placement of personnel and resources across critical locations, including “worship centres, recreational facilities, major highways, and other public spaces,” to ensure comprehensive coverage before, during, and after the celebrations.

The commissioner also used the occasion to felicitate with Christians, noting that he “extends warm congratulations to the Christian faithful on the occasion of Easter,” while urging residents to imbibe “the teachings of Jesus Christ by embracing love, sacrifice, humility, and peaceful coexistence,” alongside reflecting on the lessons of Lent and offering prayers for peace, unity, and progress.
Reaffirming the command’s readiness, the police boss stressed its “unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the celebration,” adding that security agencies are working in close collaboration to maintain order across the state.
He further underscored the importance of public cooperation, stating that “accurate and timely information remains the fuel upon which effective policing thrives,” warning that without such support, operations could be significantly hampered. Residents were therefore urged to remain alert and promptly report suspicious activities through designated emergency channels.
The statement also conveyed the commissioner’s appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olutunji Rilwan Disu, for his “visionary leadership and continued support,” which he said has strengthened operational efficiency within the command.
