Okowa tasks contractors on timely completion

Image result for Okowa tasks contractors on timely completionGovernor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State wants construction firms handling various road projects within Asaba Capital Territory to redouble their pace of work.

The governor spoke after inspecting the roads and drainage systems under construction in the capital territory.

Correspondent Carl Ofonye has the reports that governor Ifeanyi Okowa there inspecting the age long Okpanam road and drainage system project in Asaba capital territory.

The project was kick started by former governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan over ten years ago to hoodwink civil servants who live in Okpanam axis to vote for him during his reelection bid in 2011. But the road and drainage system project could not make any significant progress until the current administration led by Ifeanyi Okowa came on board.

The road is among the various road projects Governor Okowa inspected on Thursday in the capital territory.

Others included the 4.4km Joseph Ebolo and Madonna road project; the 1.6km stretch Ojife, Nduka Iloba and Casaloba Streets as well as 510 meters Stadium road and the 700meters Isioma Onyeobi link road all in Asaba Metropolis.

The governor who spoke after inspecting the projects appealed to the contractors in charge to speed up the works in order to make the roads motorable and reduce flooding in Asaba during the rainy season.

Governor Okowa said his government is determined to bring dividends of democracy to all parts of the state despite the economic recession.

He revealed that his administration has completed about 398 km of roads and that many more will be ready for commissioning across the state before the rains set in.

The governor was accompanied during the inspection exercise by members of the state executive council and his political aids.
